Arne wahl Iversen
Arne Wahl Iversen, born in 1927 in Nyborg, Denmark, was a prominent Danish furniture designer with roots in his father's furniture shop. After apprenticing as a cabinetmaker and studying furniture design at Odense Technical School and the Academy of Fine Arts under Kaare Klint, he established his own studio workshop in Nyborg at the age of twenty-five. In 1957, he began a collaboration with Ingvar Kamprad, the founder of IKEA, creating furniture designs for the Swedish market.
Despite the partnership with Kamprad lasting only a few years, Arne Wahl Iversen continued to produce furniture in various Danish factories. Notably, his designs at Komfort and Vinde Møbelfabrik gained recognition. In 1968, his bedroom design, exhibited at the Geneva furniture fair, caught the attention of Monaco's Prince Rainier and Grace Kelly, leading to immediate orders. This celebrity endorsement contributed to the popularity of his bedroom furniture in the US market.
Initially focused on the Danish market, Arne Wahl Iversen expanded to other major European countries and the United States by the end of the 1960s. He remained active in the furniture design industry until the mid-1980s, passing away in 2016.
