Dick Cordemeyer
Andre Robert (Dick) Cordemeijer, born in 1924 in Amsterdam, studied mechanical engineering. He started his career as a draftsman-constructor and joined Auping in 1952.
Dick Cordemeijer designed, among other things, the Cleopatra divan bed for Auping in 1953. Cordemeijer was commissioned by Auping to design 'something beautiful'. In the 1950s, the design of the bedroom changed and the elegant design of the Cleopatra fits in perfectly. With the arrival of the Cleopatra you could speak of real industrial design, the first bed to be produced in series by Auping.
After 1954 he continued his career as an independent industrial designer and started working for Gispen, where he designed a lot of office furniture.
Cordemeijer died in 1998.
