Gianfranco Frattini

Gianfranco Frattini was an Italian architect and designer. He started working for himself after having worked with Gio Ponti, who was his mentor and teacher in his early years. He became a industrial designer and started working with many famous manufactures and designers like Cesare Cassina, Bernini, Arteluce, Acerbis, Fantoni, Artemide, Luci, Knoll and Lema. He was a member of the board of Triennale, which is a design and art museum in the Parco Sempione in Milan. He created many beautiful items in his career like furniture, lighting and glassware. His glassware is in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art and the famous Boalum lamp is in the collection of the Smithsonian, Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum. Classic items by him are the Model 522 dining table, Gecko table or desk light, model 849 arm or lounge chair, Gio coffee table, Sesann sofa, 105 dining chair, sideboard for Bernini and Megaron floor lamp.
