Kho Liang Ie for Artifort model 680-686 sofa, the Netherlands 1960s.

A two-seat and a three-seat in new dark green upholstery on metal feet. Kho Lian ie designed this sofa together with the “Artifort design group”.

Kho Liang Ie was born in Magelang, Indonesia in 1927. When he was is in his young twenties he moved to Holland to study at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy. At the academy he studied design and interior architecture. After his study, he started working at Artifort as an advisor and designer of furniture. It was because of him Artifort became a leading design company at the international market. When working and overseeing business at Artifort he introduced new designers as Pierre Paulin and Geoffrey Harcourt. Together with those two designers he is still famous for his classic and important designs in the Dutch mid-century today. Many items, like this one, are now collectors pieces such as his model K46 floor lamp, 070 sofa with coffee table or 020 lounge chair.

Sofa’s and table are in good condition. Sofa’s are re-upholstered with new green fabric.

Kho Liang Le

Kho Liang Ie (1927-1975) was a Dutch industrial designer. He studied at Rietveld Academy and worked for Artifort, Fristho, Bruynzeel en Mosa. He is known for furnishing Airport Schiphol.
