Aldo Van Den Nieuwelaar

Aldo van den Nieuwelaar, born 1944, was a Dutch designer and architect. A designer he was inspired by Gerrit Rietveld, de Stijl en Bauhaus. This is clearly visible in his minimal and geometric designs. In his career he created furniture, carpets and was responsible for the design of the Dutch subway station “Waterlooplein” in Amsterdam. However, he gathered most recognition with his famous lighting designs. Some of his lamps are very popular and widely sought after Dutch midcentury design classics.
